If you dont want to wait you must buy that time with crystals with real money. That the AI does this points to smash and grab on the player who must wait 2 or more hours for each unit to recruit pay 10 times in gold and resources and still needs to outnumber the AI troops from the previous age. Weapon and Veterancy - None so unlike master of magic which it resembles or dare say Shogun Total War, you cant buy that smithy or academy to buff those troops and pay for an upgrade to justify your 25 gold & 25 resources spearmen knocking off a knight. No ability to give orders so no bonuses for commanding troops. Manual battles, well it is the old hexagon map based with unit turns only there is no option for a unit to stop before all its move turns are used up, there is a basic terrain defense bonus but the AI attacks with one also even though it is moving. Military the units are rationed to the age and start from the basic spearman, slinger and cavalry, which is ok only these units under AI will kill off your Iron age units. The game is a cross between age of empires and Caesar without the good bits, has less zoning, no healh events, morale only means 20% production bonus, many buildings require crystals which have to be bought and they only give an early bonus eqivalent to later age ones.
